Introduction
Family Path Locator is an application that helps families stay close: family members can share their current location, keep in touch, send a safety alert and use a few other family features in one private group. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information Family Path Locator uses, why it is used, who may be able to see it, and the choices you have. It applies whenever you use Family Path Locator. If anything here is unclear, please ask us through the Contact Us screen — the link is at the bottom of this page.
Information We Use
Family Path Locator only uses the information needed for the features you choose to use. Depending on what you use, this may include:
- Account information: your name, your email address and the sign-in details needed to open your account.
- Profile details you choose to add, such as a phone number, an address, your relationship within the family, your date of birth and your profession.
- Your current location, once you have allowed location access.
- Device status you choose to share, such as battery level, charging state and when your location was last updated.
- Family information: the family name, who belongs to the family, the Family Code and how members describe their relationship to each other in the app.
- Messages, safety alerts and photographs you choose to create or send.
- Weather information for the location you are viewing.
- Voice input you choose to use, converted into text for that message or question.
- Information you send us through Contact Us.
- Basic usage and diagnostic information — such as which features are used and crash reports — so we can keep the application working properly.
Location Information
Location is central to Family Path Locator, and it stays under your control:
- Family Path Locator may access your device's location when you give location permission.
- Location is used for family location sharing: it shows where you currently are to the members of your family group.
- Location is used while you are using the app. If you also switch on background location sharing, your location can continue to update while the app is not open — and your device shows a persistent notification while that is active.
- Members of your family can see your current location when sharing is switched on and they have access to that family.
- Family Path Locator is built for current location sharing, not for history tracking. It keeps your latest position so your family can see where you are and replaces it as it updates — it does not build a record of everywhere you have been.
- Sharing stops when you pause it, turn off location permission, leave the family, or delete your account.
Device Information
To keep shared information useful and up to date, Family Path Locator may use limited device information:
- Battery level and charging state, so your family can see whether your device is likely to stay reachable. This is shared only when Battery Status sharing is on.
- The time of your last update, so other members can tell how fresh your location is.
- Notification registration, so that notifications intended for you can reach your device. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
- Connectivity and device sensors, used only to obtain a location to share.
Family Information
Family Path Locator works through private family groups. Information connected to your family may include:
- The family name and the list of members who belong to it.
- The Family Code — the invitation you share with the people you want in your family.
- Roles within the family (for example, administrator) and the relationship labels members choose to show.
- This information is used to manage the family group, to decide who can see what you share, and to keep the group private.
Messages and Family Communication
Family Path Locator lets you exchange messages with your family group and with individual members. Messages are visible to the members of that conversation. They are not kept forever: the application keeps a recent conversation and removes older messages over time, so what you send may be cleaned up later — and until then it may remain visible to the other people in that conversation.
Safety Alerts and Notifications
Notifications help Family Path Locator reach you when something matters:
- A safety alert shares your message and your last known location with the members of your family so they know you need help.
- Notifications may also tell you about family activity, including location-sharing status and safety alerts from your family.
- Notifications need your permission on supported devices. You can allow or remove them in your device settings at any time.
Weather Information
When you open weather, Family Path Locator uses the location you are viewing to show weather for that area. The information displayed can include the current condition, temperature, humidity, wind, rain information and when it was last updated. Weather is provided for general information only.
Camera and Geotagging
The GeoTag camera lets you take a photo with useful details added to it:
- Camera access is requested only when you choose to take a photo — it is controlled by your device's permission settings.
- The stamp can show your name, your family, the address, the coordinates and the date and time.
- Photos are saved on your device and shared through your device's own sharing options. Family Path Locator does not upload your photos for other people to browse.
- You choose which photos to take, keep, save or share.
Voice Input
Family Path Locator can turn what you say into text — for example when you dictate a message or ask the assistant a question by voice. The microphone is used only when you choose voice input, the result is used as text for that message or question, and Family Path Locator does not keep an audio recording of it. Microphone access is optional and can be removed in your device settings.
AI Assistant
The Family Path Locator Assistant helps you use Family Path Locator: it answers questions about the application's own features and how to use them. It is an application-help tool only. It is not a medical, legal, financial, emergency or other professional adviser, and its answers should not be treated as such. For anything outside the app, please speak to a suitably qualified professional.
Advertisements
Family Path Locator may show advertisements in some parts of the application. Advertisements can be delivered by third-party advertising partners, which may use identifiers on your device to select and measure the advertising you see.
How We Use Information
Family Path Locator uses information to:
- Provide the family location-sharing features you choose.
- Create, manage and secure family membership.
- Provide family messaging and safety alerts.
- Deliver notifications that are relevant to you.
- Provide weather information for the location you view.
- Support the GeoTag camera and your saved photos.
- Answer your questions in the assistant and through Contact Us.
- Keep the application reliable, fix problems and understand which features are used.
- Protect the application and its users from misuse.
Your Controls
You stay in control through Family Path Locator and your device settings:
- Location access and background location sharing.
- Battery Status sharing and Weather Updates sharing (in Settings).
- Frequent Location Sync and the default map view.
- Family participation — you can leave a family at any time.
- Your profile details, which you can view and edit.
- Microphone, camera and notification access through your device settings.
- Signing out, or deleting your account from your profile.
- Contacting us with a question or a request.
Location Permission Control
Location access can be managed through your device's permission settings, at any time. If you turn location permission off, the features that depend on it — such as sharing your position and seeing yourself on the map — will not work until you allow it again. Family Path Locator will never ask you to grant a permission you do not want to give.
Data Retention
Information is kept for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide the features you use, to maintain your account and family relationships, to meet operational requirements, and to address legitimate support and security needs — or longer where the law requires it.
When you delete your account, your profile and your current location data are removed and you leave your families. Messages you sent may remain visible to other members, and conversations are cleaned up over time. If you are the administrator of a family that still has other members, the app asks you to resolve that family before your account can be deleted.
Data Security
Family Path Locator uses reasonable measures to protect your information, including limiting access to the people and the features that need it, and protecting information while it is being sent and stored. No electronic system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us through Contact Us if you ever suspect that your account is being used by someone else.
Children's Privacy
Family Path Locator is a family application. Accounts are created and managed by the person using them, and a family group is normally created by a parent or guardian who decides who may join it. We do not ask children to provide personal information outside of what their family chooses to share in the app. If you believe that information has been provided in a way that is not appropriate, please contact us through Contact Us and we will look into it.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when the application's features, legal requirements or data practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Continuing to use Family Path Locator after an update means the updated policy applies to you.
